Community Update

We wanted to post an update regarding the recent bans issued to a number of players.

We recognise that a lot of people enjoy the competitive side to CSR2 and so we work hard to protect the integrity of both the game and community. This is important to make sure that everyone is on a level playing field, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all.

We run regular initiatives to prevent, detect and disrupt rule breaking activity. Whenever we identify player behaviour which may undermine the health of the game we always perform a detailed investigation. If a decision is made to take action against a certain type of activity we carefully consider a number of factors; including the impact on the wider community, the likelihood it could have been performed by accident and the intent or motive behind the behaviour. We then choose an appropriate sanction which is both appropriate and proportionate.

We’re aware of some discussions around the cause of these recent bans and wanted to help clarify some misunderstandings.

A significant majority of the bans applied were to profiles involved in what we call ‘currency balance manipulation’. This is when a player unfairly retains game currency by way of abusing an exploit or hack, giving them a distinct advantage over other players. Whenever a player spends currency in-game, it should be removed from the spender’s profile. In these cases, the players retained the currency that should have been spent. This is clearly not an intended game mechanic and the method behind this exploit is not something which could be done by accident.

In line with our commitment to maintain high standards of fair play we issued temporary bans to players involved in currency balance manipulation. While this ban has since expired, any further rule breaking will result in those players being permanently banned.

Alongside this offence we also issued a number of permanent bans to players involved in other rule breaking behaviour.

We hope this helps assure you that we’ll always act in the interests of the majority of fair playing racers and will always aim to be as open and transparent with you as possible.

Thanks,

CSR2 team
